12 step program

  • Twelve-step methods have been adapted to address a wide range of alcoholism, substance-abuse and dependency problems. Over 200 self-help organizations—often known as fellowships—with a worldwide membership of millions—now employ twelve-step principles for recovery. Narcotics Anonymous was formed by addicts who did not relate to the specifics of alcohol dependency

  • In the twelve-step program human structure is symbolically represented in three dimensions: physical, mental, and spiritual. The problems the groups deal with are understood to manifest themselves in each dimension. For addicts and alcoholics the physical dimension is best described by the allergy-like bodily reaction resulting in the compulsion to continue using substances after the initial use.[17][18] The statement in the First Step that the individual is "powerless" over the substance-abuse related behavior at issue refers to the lack of control over this compulsion, which persists despite any negative consequences that may be endured as a result

COUNSELLING

  1. One to one session-Addiction is a chronic and often misunderstood illness. Many believe addiction and drug and alcohol or substance abuse are a sign of moral weakness, while stopping the addictive behavior is simply a matter of willpower. Scientific studies, however, have proven this is not the case.by the help of one to one counnselling person able to make themselves stronger and spritiual.

  2. the focus of counselling is on making changes in alcohol or other drug use, the counselling sessions will also cover other topics like family relationships, mental health, physical health, emotions and well-being. The counsellor can also link people in with other support services, like mental health, housing, and residential treatment programs. Your family member needs to be stable enough to attend regular counselling appointments at a clinic, but they don’t have to have stopped using to see a counsellor.
